Overseas USA Players Making Plays

USA players are heavily involved in overseas action this month - here's a look and who did what over the weekend.

English Premiership

Joe Taufete’e came on as a sub as Worcester beat Bristol 52-7.

Paul Lasike started and left nine minutes later with a suspected concussion. He did not return, but told FloRugby he is feeling better. How long he will be out of the lineup remains to be seen.

Titi Lamositele started for Saracens as Sarries edged Harlequins 25-20.

Sale defeated Newcastle 20-7. AJ MacGinty started at flyhalf and kicked a conversion and a penalty.

The Championship

London Irish defeated London Scottish 54-17. Bryce Campbell started at center and scored a try at 19 minutes. Dino Waldren didn’t play.

Thomas Gallo has been playing regularly for the London Welsh Druids, their 2nd side, and scored three tries in his first three games.

Ben Landry and Andrew Durutalo started as Ealing defeated Hartpury 32-25.

Doncaster lost to Jersey 47-22; Nick Civetta came on as a sub.

Will Hooley came on as a sub at flyhalf for Bedford and helped the Blues to a 28-21 victory over Yorkshire Carnegie, and converted the winning try.

French Top 14

One USA prospect is in the Top 14. Former HS All American prop David Ainuu made his debut for Toulouse two weeks ago and also ran on as a sub this week. At 18, and uncapped, getting time on the field for the full Top 14 squads is a remarkable achievement.

Pro 14

Greg Peterson scored a try for Glasgow as the Warriors beat Zebra 36-8. David Tameilau made his debut and helped set the try up.

Ruben de Haas has been playing regularly with the Cheetahs age-grade team to get more time on the field.

Cardiff beat the Dragons 23-15. Neither Blaine Scully nor Samu Manoa played.

There's news around both of those players, however. First of all, Manoa has been held out by Cardiff head coach John Mulvihill because the coached didn't want to rush him back after injury.

"I don't want to put him out there and put him out to fail," Mulvihill told the BBC. "If you put players out there that aren't 100% fit you do them a disservice."

But he is expected to put Manoa into the squad for this coming weekend's European Champions Cup match.

Meanwhile, Scully didn't play because he broke his larynx during training. That's right, we had the same horrified reaction you just did. His larynx. We're fairly confident that would have been a high tackle.

Scully is recovering and is in good spirits, joking to FloRugby that he "sounded like Macy Gray for a while."

He is expected to be back on the field soon.
